IN TELEVISION
Penny York (DP for American Idol, Hanna Montana and
Dancing with the Stars), Tabitha Nevel (ZDT counselor), Jasmine Trias (American Idol finalist and Destiny Lindgren.
American
Dream!
Although Destiny Lindgren aspired to work in TV production, she was totally amazed when assigned to one of her favorite shows: American
Idol. But it soon got even better. Through mentor Penny York (Director of
Photography on American Idol as well as for Rockstar), Destiny was
exposured to many facets of the production process.
"What was fascinating to me was learning how the show is actually put
together. I enjoy seeing what goes on behind the scenes and during the
commercial breaks," she explains. "For instance, I had no idea I'd find
Set Design and Props so interesting. I would never have known had I not
been there."

Given the type of show it is, there was an additional perk, Destiny
explains: "Of course, bumping into the occasional celebrity who comes to
see the show wasn't too bad, either!"

Success!
Trey King always wanted to have a job using his artistic skills, so he
jumped at the chance to become a Production Designer. With the unique
opportunities presented by the apprenticeship method, he was able to
achieve success beyond his expectations.
"My mentors, Kevin and Gerry, were very good teachers," Trey explains.
"They made sure that I understood the television studio, and everything
that went on there."
As King explains, it wasn't easy. "They gave me a pop quiz almost every
class! After finishing up the program I had an excellent understanding of
the role I could fill at a TV station." But his hard work paid off.
"Since then, I have gotten jobs as a production designer in a number of
projects," he explains.
He's not kidding! Trey's credits (last time we checked) included
commercials for: Jaguar, Lux Hair Products, MagixSoftware, Powerade, Coca
Cola, Capital Records, Robert Smith Sunglasses, and St. Jacks
Clothing.
But that's not all. He has worked on music videos for: Sugar Ray,
Everclear, Loona, Hole, Goo Goo Dolls, Donna Lewis, Sister 7, Kenny Wayne
Shepherd, David Coverdale, Louie Says, M.C Eiht, Snoop Doggy Dog, Paper
Boy, Dove Shack, and Rage Against the Machine.
